Bangla New Year 1416 Celebration
BAOCV celebarted Bengali New Year 1416 (Pohela Boishakh) on the 18th of April 2009 in Richmond, Virginia. Renowned folk-singer Rathindranath Roy and local artists presented a vibrant cultural program marking the New Year festival. Bangladeshi community in Richmond pleasantly enjoyed the evening with their family and friends.

The Language, Independence Day and Pita Party 2007
Bangladeshi American Organization of Central Virginia (BAOCV) organized a program to observe the Language and 36th Independence Day along with Pitha Party on February 18, 2007 at Maybeury Elementary School. Event's activities included pitha utshob and cultural performances participated by local and guest artists from Northern Virginia and Maryland. Hundreds of people across the community turned up to enjoy the traditional Bangladeshi pitha and musical program and dance performances. Kids recited Bangla Chhara and performed karate. The program ended up with serving the dinner.
BAOCV expresses its sincere thanks to you all for your dedicated services and active participations. Without your participation we could not be able to present such a wonderful program. Once again we have proved that together we can perform an outstanding program and uphold our unity and heritage.

Language and Independence Day Commemoration

In observance of the Language Day and celebration of the Independence Day, Bangladeshi American Organization of Central Virginia organized a program to commemorate these historic days of Bangladesh on the 27th of March 2005 at Bon Air Community Center, Richmond, Virginia. The program started with speeches, followed by musics, recitation and dance performances. The program was ended with traditional delicious Bengali foods.

Victory Day, Eid-Reunion and Christmas
BAOCV community celebrated the Victory Day, Eid-Reunion and Christmas on the 19th of December 2004 at Bon Air Community Center Richmond, Virginia. Local artists and adolescents demonstrated their talents by performing musics, dances and jokes. The adolescents presented a talent show "Bangladesh Peasant". The artist Marina Rahman from Maryland delivered pleasant songs for the Richmond's audience. The program was concluded by serving traditional Bengali foods.

BAOCV wins runners-up
Richmond, Virginia, October 17, 2004 — BAOCV volleyball team practised and participated in Asian Mini Olympic held in Midlothian High School, Virginia. They surprisingly beat the defending champion China in the first round of group B. The BAOCV team booked an easy victory over Pakistan in the second round. They faced the toughest opponent of the tournament, Vietnam, in the final round and left the field with runners-up title. Bangladesh team successfully defended its title straight second year in Asian Mini Olympic in Richmond, Virginia.BAOCV Team: Shabbir Ahmed (Milon), Farid Ahmed, Nazrul Islam, Saiful Alam, Monzur K. Sarker (Limon), Nazim Uddin, Monzurul Haque (Monzu), Nasir Chowdhury, Nasir Uddin (captain), Shamin Ahmed (Hiron), Zubair, Zakir, Nurul Amin.

Richmond, Virginia, July 18, 2004 — BAOCV soccer team practised and participated in Greater Richmond Asian Soccer Tournament held in Dorey Park, Mechanicsville, Virginia. They played with China, South Korea, Vietnam and Philipines. Although they lost in all four games but they put up a competitive match against all the opponents. BAOCV Team: Saiful Alam, Zubair, Jewel, Khairul Amin (captain), ANM Shahid Ullah (Salim), Zakir, Anees, Monzur K Sarker (Limon), Nasir Chowdhury, Anwar Ahmed, Nasir Uddin, Sheikh Arif, Hanif, Razib, Lethe, Larrington.

BAOCV's recent activities

BAOCV held a soccer tournament between its Green and Red teams on Aug 16 at Pouncey Tract soccer field. Green won over Red team by 7-5 goals.

BAOCV volunteered in Summar 2009 On-Air TV Membership campaign for new and renewal membership drives held on Aug 8, 2009 at 6:30 - 11:30 PM conducted by Community Idea Stations, Richmond. Mamo, Nabila, Nashia, Sonia and Shovon participated in the drive.

BAOCV held its Annual Summer Picnic on Aug 2, 2009 at Crump Park, Glen Allen.

BAOCV celebrated Bengali New Year 1416 on Apr 18, 2009 at Longan Elementary School. Rathindranath Roy and Local artists presented a colorful cultural program.

BAOCV provided contribution along with VMCPA for CARITAS- HOMELESS DINNER held on Dec 25, 2008 at 1645 Buford Rd., Richmond, VA 23235 at 6:00 PM.

BAOCV volunteered in Winter 2008 On-Air TV Membership campaign for new and renewal membership drives held on Dec 13, 2008 at 6:30 - 11:30 PM conducted by Community Idea Stations, Richmond. Mamo, Nabila, Nashia, Tahibur, Tahmina, Tahsin, Tuhin and Shuvo participated in the drive.

BAOCV volunteered in Fall 2008 On-Air Radio Membership campaign for new and renewal membership drives held on Oct 29, 2008 at 6:00 - 10:00 PM conducted by Community Idea Stations, Richmond. Mim, Tahsin and Wasek participated in the drive.

BAOCV organized an Iftaar Party for the community on September 21, 2008 at 6:30pm at R.C. Logan Elementary School.

BAOCV held its Annual Summer Picnic on Jun 15, 2008 at Crump Park, Glen Allen.

BAOCV commemorated the Language and Independence Day and Pitha Party on Feb 17, 2008 at Pocahontas Middle School, Richmond.

BAOCV performed funraising activities to help CIDR cyclone victims in Bangladesh and sent $8373 to Chief Adviser's Relief and Welfare fund on Dec 24, 2007. We also collected about 20,000 pieces of new and old cloths and sent to Bangladesh for the cyclone victims.

BAOCV performed a fundraising event to help flood victims in Bangladesh and sent $3000 to Chief Adviser's Relief and Welfare fund on Sep 28, 2007.

BAOCV volunteered to clean up the bank of James river at the Robious Landing on the 9th of June 2007 from 9:00am to 1:00pm.

BAOCV members volunteered for ElderHomes Project to renovate a home at 1403 Chambers St., Richmond on the 19th of May 2007.

BAOCV and its members made a donation of $825 to VMCPA on April 14, 2007 at Fulgham Center, Richmond.
